Aboriginal Medical Relief Facility
Australia, 2010

Australia has one of the highest qualities of life in the world, but Aboriginal health conditions are worse than some third world countries.  One contributing factor to the poor state of Aboriginal health is that in healthcare facilities there is a clear lack of culturally appropriate services for Aboriginal Australians.
Every human being deserves to be healthy and the opportunity to access healthcare facilities regardless of ethnicity or lifestyle choices.  A relatively large number of Aboriginal Australians live in rural and remote communities with little to no access to healthcare facilities.

The Aboriginal Medical Relief Facility creates a culturally appropriate, temporary healthcare facility for remote Aboriginal communities that can be quickly fabricated and assembled with native materials and construction methods.  A temporary structure, that can become permanent if needed or transported, that is self-sustaining, employs passive environmental strategies, and touches the earth lightly with minimal environmental disturbances are the objectives for the Aboriginal Medical Relief Facility.  Thousands of these structures can be replicated and  mass-produced with the kit of parts to easily be constructed and deployed in remote Aboriginal communities.
